🌄 Why We Organised this Webinar

If we want to be the change we wish to see, we need to face — and where necessary, work on healing — our relationship with this ‘thing’ called money.

Zach and I have both made profound and practical discoveries around this topic. We organised this webinar to share our learnings and offer insights into making money a force for good.

Grateful for a lively, interactive session that left participants and us inspired:

The core idea
Zach framed money as a form of energy exchange. Raymundo added to this by framing money as an expression of a universal desire to give, create, help, and make things possible.

Raymundo's journey
Raymundo spent years seeking applause by performing, until a crash at an Amsterdam startup showed him he was living for nothing he cared about. Charles Eisenstein's Sacred Economics gave him words for what he'd felt: our structures rest on an unconscious belief that there is not enough. His first answer, dropping all prices, left his Qigong and Tai Chi students unsure. In 2016 he began living and travelling without money, then chose to embrace money again as something that can give life. His biggest shift was befriending the part of him that fears not being enough, and showing up anyway.

Practical pointers

  • Don't fixate on a model, on passion, on gurus, or on "because I'm worth it," which can cloak "I'm not worth it." Get honest about your true needs instead.
  • Many people have an expenditure problem, not an income problem.
  • Money is a two-way street: give even when you have little.
  • Get creative. His book is free as blog posts, a fixed-price paperback with optional donation, and open-price ebook and audiobook.
  • Cultivate the balls for a no, so the door stays open for the right relationships.
  • The answer to "how" is yes.

Zach's reflections
Scarcity thinking closes doors: there is enough, and we are enough. Our time and presence are the biggest gift, so choose carefully who gets them. Waiting for money first is a trap; Zach has run projects for 15 years without owning land. Money for regenerative work is plentiful for those who can deliver results and write proposals.

Miracle Project
Raymundo arrived in Portugal with €4,000 and no income. The campaign aims to free the land for €111,000, after which the Terra Agora Foundation can hold it in perpetuity, so it can never be sold. On the webinar day it stood at 60% with 17 days left, with gifts ranging from €3 to €7,140.

From the Q&A

  • Marco asked why Raymundo lets people choose what to pay for his book. Raymundo: there is no fixed model, and free often equals cheap, so people need a way to feel how much something matters to them. Zach: what matters is commitment on both sides, not necessarily money.
  • Bo asked how to know when to give and when to ask. Raymundo: when someone says "I don't have the money," ask what would be a right amount for them. Let misaligned relationships go, and trust your inner antenna. Zach: make space to hear your inner voice, then experiment and change your model as often as needed.
  • On failing, both agreed that mistakes are where learning happens. Zach shared how a student fixed a six-figure water retention project with $15 and sandbags: "Don't find the friction, find the flow."
