🔥 And then... the Fires Came (REcap #2 + VIDEO, August 2025)
Fires had already been blazing...
But on Sunday, 17th August, the day my son arrived from the Netherlands, all hell broke loose. Winds picked up enormously, and what had seemed far away suddenly came close—really close.
Our temporary basecamp farm wasn’t directly in danger, but the smoke and ashes became too intense. In the middle of the night, we dismantled the caravan and evacuated, mainly to protect my son’s lungs. The crew of the farm stayed behind to keep an eye out and assist around the village.
Four days later, we returned. My son rejoined his mother and travelled north for one last week in Portugal; I started to help friends, douse the last flare-ups, and ramp up efforts for change that actually makes a difference.
