VIDEO UPDATE #7 đŸŒđŸŒ± We Found The Land—And it Will Never Be Ours

We found it, walked it, listened to it—and now we’ll happily never own it.
Aerial shot of the land that will be Miracle Project's first demonstration site

In 2025, we found 11 hectares of burned land, scorched by that year’s Summer fires. On April 30th of this year, we signed a promissory contract to purchase it.

Our goal: to turn scarred ground into an abundant demonstration site and living classroom.

Why are we doing this?

For one, we want to disrupt the ‘normalisation’ of drought-fire-flood spirals by demonstrating how small-scale restoration can ripple outward—regionally, nationally, and even continentally.

Second, we want to co-create healthy, joyful, and powerful ways of living and working, and set an example. Not by trying to be perfect, but by working to be true.

So we’re partnering with nature to revive water cycles, grow abundant ecosystems, and build socio-economic resilience.

🌄 Freeing Land

Our founding charter states we will only temporarily hold real estate we acquire, transferring it as soon as possible to a not-for-profit aligned with our principles. This ensures two things:

  1. Freedom from market dynamics and speculation. Miracle Project’s lands and (future) buildings cannot be treated as things to be exploited or sold for financial profit.
  2. Mission-aligned use and stewardship. Instead of possessing real estate, we care for it.

Why?

We’ve come to find the idea of owning parts of the Earth and selling them to each other rather odd (and that’s putting it mildly). The Earth shouldn’t belong to anyone; it should be cared for.

By acquiring real estate and placing it under a foundation that keeps it off the market, we ensure it won’t fall prey to greedy hands when we’re gone.

And that it won’t fall prey to our greediness.

In Homer’s story The Odyssey, Odysseus learned of the Sirens whose songs had lured many a captain to their doom. Wanting to hear what all the fuss was about, he had himself bound to the mast and his crew plug their ears with wax. All the captains before him had been sure they’d resist; none of them did.

Odysseus accepted his vulnerability, protected himself and his crew, and sailed past unscathed, fully able to enjoy the beauty of the Sirens’ call. Win-win.

I once heard someone say, ‘The road to hell is paved with good intentions.’ I don’t consider myself enlightened, and I’ve come to see we need solid structures — not limiting, but empowering — that help us be the change we wish to see.

Making the land belong to itself is one structure designed to help us navigate the challenges we will inevitably meet.
